Home away from home.
At home
I live in a small home in Lancaster, PA, situated between many major highways allowing easy travel to and from shows. At home, dogs run in small groups together in the main grass back yard, and (weather permitting) can spend their days “off” stretching and playing in partially covered cement runs. I lovingly call my house “the tiny house,” so instead of a traditional kennel facility, the dogs are kept in the house with me so are monitored constantly. The basement has been converted into my Groom Room, and is where I spend most of my time between maintenance grooming and utilizing the mirrored walls for practicing with greener show dogs. While I do utilize a DogPacer for many of the dogs for a wide variety of reasons, I think there is no replacement for free play and full out running in the yard with eachother!
On the road
The dogs and I travel in Class C motorhome, allowing the dogs, my assistant Jess, and I to fully have a “home away from home.” All crates are able to be reached and opened while slides are in, and instead of being back in a garage they are up in the living quarters with me (which makes them more accessible while traveling as well). Large dogs ride in a custom TNC crate bank, while smaller campers get to enjoy the bunk beds! I am a HUGE believer that technology fails… this means that even though the bus is monitored by a Waggle temperature and power system, the bus is NEVER completely shut - a window or side door is always open to allow air flow and some humidity to get in. Not only is this a safety precaution, this insures that dogs will have an easier time going from the a/c to show outside in the summer months.
